Indian company Gujarat Borosil claims to have developed the world’s first 2mm fully tempered solar glass for glass-glass solar modules.
The 2mm tempered glass is mainly suitable for glass-glass modules, and helps to reduce weight and increase module efficiency.
Gujarat Borosil Ltd, a subsidiary of Borosil Glass Works, which is dedicated to the manufacture solar glass material, has this week inaugurated its 2mm tempered solar glass production line facility at its fab in Baruch, Gujarat, a state of India.
The 2mm tempered glass is mainly suitable for glass-glass modules, and helps to reduce weight and increase module efficiency.
Borosil claims to have the best solar glass in the world with the lowest iron content (76PPM), free from toxic materials such as antimony and arsenic, and the highest resistance to PID – tested by PI Berlin.
The 2mm tempered glass is processed with the latest AEROFLAT air-cushion technology and, Borosil says, therefore shows no roller waves, white stripes nor pick-ups on processed glass.
The glass is tempered as per EN 12150-1:2015, fully qualifying it as a safety glass.
According to Borosil, 2mm glass can be used for new generation frameless PV modules, and because of its light weight properties is also a good option for rooftop applications.
The glass can be manufactured in different textures including Prismatic-Matt and Matt-Matt, and also has high tensile strength and durability, being able to withstand high wind loads in excess of 2,400 Pa and snow loa...
