Pittsburgh Glass Works says it will restart its Evart, Michigan, facility, after closing it in January 2009. Restarting the plant will generate 50 to 60 jobs, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times. Hiring hasn’t started yet.

In a statement, the Pittsburgh-based company said the restart is a result of increased demand for automotive glass products. The plant is slated to make tempered side windows for the auto industry.

When the plant was closed in 2009 due to excess capacity, 120 jobs were eliminated.

PGW will begin preparation to initiate new operations at the Evart facility immediately and expects to begin production prior to the end of the third quarter of this year.
