British Glass is organising a one-day seminar on funding for decarbonisation and energy efficiency work – taking place on 9 November in Wakefield – to support the UK industry in its active pursuit of energy efficiency and decarbonisation objectives.

All manufacturing is being challenged to decarbonise and radically improve energy efficiency. But within any business competition for investment is fierce. High capital costs, long payback periods and project complexity conspire to make implementing decarbonisation work particularly challenging.

This seminar will bring together glass manufacturers, equipment suppliers and experts in funding and energy management to explore the most plausible routes to securing internal and external funding for different types of energy efficiency projects, including:

  • commercial partnerships
  • strengthened business models
  • grant funding.

Speakers already confirmed for the event include:

  • Darren Bryant, Heatcatcher Limited
  • Geoff Blythe, N Power
  • Jenni McDonnell, Knowledge Transfer Network
  • tephen Barker, Siemens plc

Using case studies from industry, the speakers will draw on their direct experience to cover topics including:

  • building partnerships that pay
  • aligning business objectives with grant eligibility
  • positive cash flow financing
  • energy as service model
  • leverage from operational cost savings

British Glass Environmental Advisor, Valli Murthy said:

“Environmental challenges will bring business opportunities for those who can think differently and collaborate innovatively. The political climate is ripe with potential – and British Glass wants to see the glass sector at the front of the queue when opportunities arise. We hope this day will give the delegates commercially relevant and applicable insight to understand the options – and maybe even create some new ones too.”
