Social housing fenestration specialist Total Glass is supplying new PVC-U windows and composite doors as part of a multi-million pound refurbishment programme for Golden Gates Housing Trust’s social housing stock throughout the Warrington area.

The Liverpool-based PVC-U and aluminium window and door fabricator was selected by Golden Gates Housing Trust through the Fusion21 Procurement Frameworks to manufacture high quality pre-glazed windows and GRP composite entrance doors as part of overall on-going improvement works to thousands of tenants’ homes and the estates on which they live.

Golden Gates Housing, which has managed 8,700 homes on behalf of Warrington Council since February 2004, became a housing association on November 29 2010. It was the first arm’s-length management organisation in the country to transfer all its stock to a housing association. GGHT is expected to spend around £105 million on improving its stock over the next five years.

As part of the Security Package, Total Glass is supplying 400 high-specification ‘A’-rated PVC-U casement windows and 100 Secured by Design-accredited composite doors per week that are being installed by Bramall Construction. Window surveys and property assessments have been carried out, along with pilot installations in 36 properties.

Liaison with tenants over their choice of new front doors is also an important element of the project.

“We are delighted and very proud to have won this substantial contract, particularly as we faced a lot of fierce competition throughout the lengthy selection process from firms around the country. We couldn’t have had better news in these recessionary times,” comments Frank Deary, Total Group Managing Director.

“We work extensively with many social housing providers throughout the North West and beyond. Therefore, we could successfully demonstrate our credentials and capability to deliver on every aspect of this contract, including the need for supply chain efficiencies.

“We’re looking forward to working in partnership with Golden Gates Housing Trust in helping to provide smarter, more secure and thermally-efficient homes for their residents,” adds Frank.

GGHT Property Services Manager, Carl Talbot-Davies commented: “We have been working with Total Glass since our transfer in November 2010 and have had an excellent relationship with the Group. The feedback from our tenants on the choice and quality of products that Total Glass has provided has been excellent and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership in the future.”
